World Cooperage Achieves ISO Certification

In its constant focus on quality, World Cooperage’s parent company, cooperages and mills were awarded ISO 9001:2000 certification earlier this year. ISO certification requires a standardized quality management system that includes formal training programs, detailed work specifications and controlled tracking procedures.  This third party accreditation assures customers that they can expect the most consistent and repeatedly high quality barrels.  ISO requires not only external auditing and certification, but also maintaining and auditing systems internally after they have been established.

ISO certification is a great accomplishment to support the cooperage’s quality mission. This accreditation insures consistent quality control measures with concrete, documented data. Thorough inspection processes are conducted to insure that these quality standards are continuously upheld.

ISO certification is common in Europe, becoming more and more popular as a worldwide quality standard. Many companies require that their suppliers be ISO certified. World Cooperage continues to grow in global markets, and ISO certification was a natural step. Their certificate is registered through United Registrar of Systems, Ltd, based in the UK. The ISO standards are developed and monitored by the International Organization of Standardization.
