We wanted to offer a new toast level that complemented the existing toasts; light, medium, medium plus, heavy. The new Medium Long toast is similar to current Traditional Series options, but toasted at lower temperature and longer time.<\/p>\n<p>In trials World Cooperage found the Medium Long toast:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accentuates red fruit with very subtle toast framework, showing extended length and soft integration<\/li>\n<li>Has supple tannins and adds to mid palate weight<\/li>\n<li>Highlights fruit complexity with very subtle oak characteristics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This new toast is available in both French and American oak.<\/p>\n<p>After a first harvest with these barrels in the market we are getting back some good notes on how winemakers have been enjoying the addition to our Traditional Series.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Wilson Creek Winery<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gary introduced me to the World Cooperage Medium Long toast barrel and I\u2019m sure glad he did. I used these barrels in our Mourv\u00e8dre and Petite Sirah wine programs last year to test them with a light and a heavy red. So far, the results far exceeded my expectations. The medium long toast barrels produced the desired aromas of toasty spice and vanilla that accented the fruit of the wines. The tannins were soft and well-integrated.
